Bhubaneswar: As many as 50 people were injured, four of them critically, when a pickup van they were traveling in lost control and overturned near Banspal ITI Chhak in Keonjhar district on Sunday.
The incident took place while the group, hailing from Rada village in the Palalahada area of Angul district, was en route to Tala Jagar village for a feast.
According to reports, the pickup van, which was transporting the villagers, lost control and overturned as it approached Banspal ITI Chhak.
As a result, more than 50 men and women sustained injuries. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and the injured were rushed to the Banspal Community Health Center (CHC).
While most of the injured are receiving treatment at the CHC, four persons, who are in critical condition, have been transferred to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further medical care.
Upon being informed, Nayakote police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
