52 Lives Lost To Alcohol Consumption In Odisha: Excise Minister

Bhubaneswar: A total of 52 people lost their lives in the state due to alcohol consumption during the tenure of the previous government, as informed by Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan in the state assembly on Saturday.

Responding to a question from Balasore MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, Minister Harichandan stated that a total of Rs 7,756.14 crore in excise revenue was collected in FY 2024-25 up to March 26, 2025.

Additionally, Minister Harichandan clarified that liquor shops located near schools and temples in the Balasore district were permitted under Section 26 of the Government Excise Act.
