Bhubaneswar: Over 55 percent of polling was reported till 12.30 PM in the fifth phase of the panchayat elections in Odisha, informed State Election Commission (SEC) Secretary Rabindra Sahu on Thursday.
Except for the disturbance at a few places in Cuttack district, polling was relatively peaceful across the State. Swabhiman Anchal in Malkangiri district also witnessed over 52 percent polling till 12.30 PM.
The election was being held for 131 Zilla Parishad seats at 13,514 booths in 975 Gram Panchayats under 48 blocks in 25 districts of Odisha. The re-polling at the places where the election was disrupted today may be held on Friday.
