Boudh: The District Education Officer (DEO) of Boudh has issued show-cause notices to 56 schools across three blocks—Boudh, Harabhanga, and Kantamal—for failing to serve the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) on Independence Day (August 15, 2025).
According to an official notice from the Office of the District Education Officer (DPMU, MDM), 15 schools in Boudh, 33 in Harabhanga, and 8 in Kantamal did not prepare or distribute nutritious midday meals to students on the important national holiday.
Block Education Officers have been directed to ensure that the concerned schools provide explanations on why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them for violating government guidelines.
“In this context, you are hereby requested to issue show cause notice to those schools directing them to explain why disciplinary action will not be taken against them for not carrying out govt. guidelines,” the notice stated.
Furthermore, the schools must distribute Food Security Allowance (FSA), equivalent to one day’s meal, to all students who were present on August 15. This distribution must take place in the presence of members of the School Management Committee (SMC).
Schools are also instructed to submit compliance reports within seven days, supported by photographs and acquittance records as proof of distribution. Headmasters have been cautioned against repeating such lapses in the future.
“Further, you are requested to issue warnings to those headmasters to ensure that such mistakes are not repeated in the future,” the notice added.
