57 Students Fall Sick After Eating ‘Contaminated’ Snacks In Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A total of 57 students of Panchayat High School Lahandabud under Sadar block in Sundargarh district have been hospitalized after allegedly eating contaminated snacks on school premises.

According to reports, 19 girl students and 38 boy students, who are in Class IX and X, started experiencing symptoms of food poisoning after consuming the snacks ‘singada bara’. Condition of 19 students out of 57 students is stated to be critical.

It is learnt that 11 ailing students are being treated at Majhapada Community Health Centre while eight students are undergoing treatment at Sundargarh Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Students reportedly consumed contaminated snacks at an awareness programme organised by Dharuadihi police.

The incident has sparked concerns about food safety in the area.
