Bhubaneswar: As many as 59 export oriented IT companies have opened shop in Odisha during the last five years and have recruited around 23,656 young men and women, informed Electronics and Information Technology Minister Tusharkanti Behera.
In a written reply to a query from BJP Member Mohan Majhi in the Odisha Assembly, Behera told that out of around 23,656 young men and women recruited by the export oriented IT companies during the last five years, 80 percent are from Odisha.
He added that the Department has no data on the minimum and maximum salaries offered by these companies.
Minister said that the State government has provided required land, built up space and other facilities to these IT companies.
Deloitte and IT & ITes ESDM companies have augmented the revenue earnings of the state through software exports, he added.
The Minister further informed that to transform Bhubaneswar into an IT hub like Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai have established Infocity-(SEZ), Infocity-II-IT SEZ (Infovalley).
A greenfield EMC is being set up at Infovalley, he added.
In order to attract reputed IT firms to invest and set-up their units, the State government has identified OCAC Tower, Fortune Tower, IDCO Tower, Tower-2000, O-Hub Tower, Shakti Bhawan, ICOMC Tower, BSCL Building Unit2 and BSCL Building Saheed Nagar as IT Towers to provide affordable working space, Behera said.
That apart, to provide various incentives to IT companies, the State government has implemented new Odisha IT Policy-2022, Odisha Data Centre Policy-2022, Odisha Electronics Policy-2021 and Odisha BPO Policy 2021, he informed.
The State government is making all out efforts to make Bhubaneswar into a leading IT hub, he added.
