6 Arrested From Chhattisgarh

Malkangiri: Six people were arrested from Chhattisgarh on Sunday for their alleged involvement in witchcraft activities disguised as a religious ceremony in Chitapari-4 village under Orkel police limits in Malkangiri district.

According to reports, the locals were conducting a three-day religious ceremony in the village. However, on the second day, the accused performed witchcraft rituals under the guise of the ceremony.

Acting on a tip-off, the Orkel police formed a special team and raided the site.

Upon investigation, the police found the accused performing witchcraft using a cot. They had also accused an elderly woman of being a witch and forced her to leave the village.

The police rescued the woman and arrested the six individuals involved in the witchcraft.

Items used for the rituals, including the cot, were seized, along with a car used by the accused. The arrested individuals were presented before a local court.
