Bhubaneswar: A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch and Khariar Forest Officials on Tuesday seized around six kilograms of pangolin scales from the possession of a wildlife criminal in Nuapada district.
On the basis of reliable information regarding dealing/ possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals, a team of STF conducted a raid with the help of Khairar Forest Officials yesterday afternoon near Sahipalla in Nuapada-Padmapur road under Nuapada Police Station of the district.
As a result, one wildlife criminal namely Bikaram Majhi of Sahipalla was apprehended. During the search, pangolin scales weighing six kilograms and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
The accused person could not produce any authority in support of the possession of such pangolin scales, for which he was detained and handed over to Khariar Forest Officials under Khariar Forest Division for necessary legal action on their end.
