Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved the appointment of 6,387 retired teachers as guest teachers in government, fully aided, block grant high schools, and Sanskrit TOLs (Traditional Oriental Learning) schools. The School and Mass Education Department has issued a directive to the Directorate of Secondary Education, outlining the plan to address teacher shortages in secondary schools.
The guest teachers will work on a temporary basis until new Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) are appointed to fill the vacancies. District Education Officers will inform the Directorate of Secondary Education about the vacancies in their area, and appointments will be made on this basis.
If a TGT teacher is appointed or comes to a school to fill a vacancy, the appointed guest teacher will be removed from that school. The appointments are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted teaching in schools facing staff shortages while the recruitment process for new teachers is underway.
