Rayagada: As many as 44 inmates of the Anwesha Hostel at Rayagada’s Kotlaguda have tested positive for Covid-19.
However, all the infected students are asymptomatic and they are well.
Following the development, Rayagada District Welfare Officer Ashok Kumar Satpathy rushed to the hostel and has taken stock of the situation.
According to reports, on May 4 Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the Health Department conducted RTPCR tests of 257 inmates of Block 1 Hostel. Out of them, 44 have tested positive for Covid-19.
Namita Samal, the hostel’s Matron has said that following the development all kinds of precautionary measures have been taken by the hostel authorities. Students studying in eight English medium schools of Rayagada reside in this hostel.
Besides, another 20 students of Hatmuniguda Government High School in Bissam Katak block of the district have tested positive for Covid-19.
