Bhubaneswar: At least seven students were injured after a school van overturned near the electricity office at Chikiti under Digapahandi police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.
According to reports, the van was carrying around 12 students from Chandpur area to Pitatali Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya when the mishap occurred. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near the electricity office, following which it rammed into an electric pole and overturned.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was first taken to a nearby health centre before being shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur for advanced treatment.
All injured students were rushed to Chikiti Community Health Centre (CHC). Their condition is stated to be stable.
On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
