Puri: In a rare display of courage and bravery at her age, a 75-year-old woman overpowered a woman robber who had snatched a gold chain from a woman outside the Loknath temple premises here today.
“While she was trying to escape after snatching the gold chain from behind I caught hold of her. In the tussle, the gold chain fell on the ground. We grabbed the chain. She tried to push and shove me to get her released from my grip. I was firm in my grip and didn’t allow her to escape,” said 75-year-old Nalini Palei.
The incident happened while a woman devotee from Paradip was returning after having darshan of Lord Lokanath at the temple on the occasion of Mahasivaratri.
Palei has sustained injuries on her head and face in the tussle between her and the chain snatcher woman.
Police have detained the woman chain snatcher and are quizzing her.
