Bhubaneswar: An eight-foot-long Indian rock python was rescued by forest personnel from Ragadapatia village under Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, on Tuesday.
According to Assistant Conservator of Forests Manas Das, the reptile was spotted near a crop field, entangled in a net set up by farmers to prevent cattle from entering the fields. Forest officials responded promptly and safely extricated the snake.
The adult python was later released into a nearby forest area, which is considered a suitable and safe habitat for reptiles such as snakes and lizards.
