Bhubaneswar: As many as eight persons died of drowning while taking a bath after playing Holi in separate mishaps across Odisha on Tuesday.
One student drowned to death while bathing after playing Holi in the Puri Main Canal near Panchupala village under Barang police limits of Cuttack district. The deceased hailed from Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar. Two drowned while bathing in the canal. While one could be rescued, the body of the deceased student has been recovered.
Similarly, while a youth died of drowning in Power Channel near Chaunpur in Sambalpur district, a minor boy drowned to death in a pond at Balasore Police Colony.
Besides, while a minor boy drowned to death in a pond in Dahisada village under Soro police limits in Balasore district, a youth met with watery grave in Karsuan village under Salipur block in Cuttack district. Another youth drowned to death in the Luna River at Nischintakoili in Cuttack district.
A minor boy drowned in Katakula village under Paradip Lock police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, while another person died of drowning at Basanaputi village under Chamakhandi police limits in Ganjam district.
