Bhubaneswar: Police have so far detained around 83 youth for questioning in connection with the recent violence in the Dargha Bazar area during Durga puja idol immersion.
According to reports, a special AI software is being used to scan hundreds of Instagram and Facebook accounts. The police are closely examining videos that show anti-social youths breaking and burning shops and pelting stones at the police. Both the rioters and those who uploaded and shared the riot videos are being identified through these videos and accounts. Police have also requested Facebook and Instagram to remove some videos from certain accounts. After investigating these videos, based on concrete evidence, some youths have been arrested, and others are being detained and interrogated. It has been reported that around 83 youths are being held in various police stations for questioning. To aid in the investigation, the cyber police and special squad are analyzing video footage to identify the culprits.
According to unconfirmed sources, the number of arrests is likely to exceed 20. Cases are being registered not only at Dargha Bazar police station but also at other police stations in the city, as well as at the cyber police station.
Meanwhile, police have warned that no one involved in the violence will be spared, and the investigation is ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice.
