Bhubaneswar: A public hearing programme was held at the State Institute for Women and Children in Laxmi Sagar, Bhubaneswar, aiming to provide a free platform for women to present and hear grievances related to domestic violence, harassment, dowry, and other women’s welfare issues.
The event was organized jointly by the National Commission for Women and the Odisha State Commission for Women.
Notices were issued to parties in 86 cases from Khordha district, with 45 cases heard and measures taken for immediate resolution. The Commission had previously recommended investigations and legal aid in 150 cases, and district-level officers submitted Action Taken Reports. Six new cases were registered during the programme.
The event was chaired by Shobhan Mohanty, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, with members Urmila Mohapatra, Pratibha Satpathy, Mukta Sahu, and Dr. Kalpana Malik present
