Balasore: Balasore police have successfully arrested all the nine persons including the receiver involved in the robbery on Thursday at Manjaringa village under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district.
Police have seized three motorcycles, one laptop, six mobile phones, Rs 8,000 in cash, and gold and silver ornaments from their possession.
“A total of nine accused persons including the receiver have been arrested in connection with the loot on October 26 in Khantapada police limits,” informed Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP) Sagarika Nath briefing reporters here today.
Nath told that the entire property-gold ornaments that were looted have been recovered barring a phone and a gold chain. All the accused persons are locals, she added.
Elaborating on the modus operandi of the gang, the Balasore SP said, “The gang had procured a pepper spray from an online shopping site . Between 8.30 PM to 9.00 PM on 26th the accused persons entered the house and by using the pepper spray threatened the people at knifepoint and looted their laptop, mobile phones gold and siver ornaments.”
She said that on being informed a police team under the leadership of Khantpada OIC swung into action and very soon managed to apprehend four of the accused persons.
“After detailed interrogation we came to know that a total of eight accused were present at crime spot and another was the receiver of the looted goods. All the nine have been been arrested. A team was constituted under the leadership of SDPO Sadar which in coordination with GRP, RPF and Special Squad of DCP Cuttack nabbed the remaining accused from Cuttack railway station while they were trying to flee to Bengaluru after committing the crime,” she explained.
