Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra assured on Monday that the state has sufficient cooking gas stock, urging consumers to remain calm.

Patra addressed a press meet amid concerns over LPG gas availability, stating, “The state has a demand for 2,000 LPG cylinders in a day, and we have around 14,000 cylinders in reserve on average. There’s no need to panic; we urge people not to resort to panic buying.”

“Arrangements have been made to supply gas to hotels and restaurants soon, stated Minister adding that “Gas will be supplied to hotels and restaurants soon. Earlier, commercial gas allocation was 20%. The central government has approved an additional 20%, making it easier for restaurants and hotels to access gas. There’s also discussion about increasing it by another 10%. With this, commercial gas availability is expected to meet around 50% of the demand.”

He further said, “Commercial institutions will get 40% gas supply from today. The centre has certain conditions for the extra 10% allocation, which the state government is addressing. Domestic gas distribution is normal; any complaints are being addressed promptly.”
