Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar on Thursday arrested nine persons in connection with the series of burglaries at Space Town Apartment under Mancheswar police limits on the intervening night of December 11 and 12 last year.
According to an official press release, police have seized four motorcycles, Rs 3.20 lakh cash, 1.5 kg silver ornaments, one 12 gm gold chain, gold ornaments, 8 mobile phones and housebreaking instruments from the possession of the accused persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Bablu Dalai (20), Santu alias Santosh Kumar Dash (20), Bishnu Pradhan (30), Prasant Behera (20), Bulu Patra (42), Dada alias Gisrish Naik (45), Ranjan Raula (24), Mryutanjaya Sahu (58), and Amit Kumar Jena (20).
All the accused persons hail from Ganjam district.
The accused persons were active in different parts of the State–Puri, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Ganjam and Jharsuguda.
They usually stay in Chhatisgarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Surat, and Andhra Pradesh and commit crimes in Odisha, the release said.
After the commission of a crime, they abscond and move outside the state to evade police arrest. They make recce in the day hour and operate in the night hour between 1.00 A.M to 3.00 A.M.
The accused persons have cases pending against their names at various police stations which include Laxmisagar, Infocity, Tamando, Airfield, and Bharatpur
