Bhubaneswar: In what can be termed a major success for the Odisha Police, nine Maoist cadres, including two top women cadres, surrendered before IG Police (Southern Range) in Odisha’s Boudh on Wednesday. All the Maoists who surrendered today to join the mainstream are from Muler village in the Dantewada district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

According to reports, the two women Maoists are Yogi Madvi alias Jyoti and Pozze Madvi – both wanted in connection with several criminal cases.

Jyoti, who joined the CPI(Maoist) in 2019, was in charge of the personal security of Sila alias Nagmani – a Maoist leader of the KKBN division in the Boudh district. On the other hand, Pozze joined the extremist group in 2020 with Vikesh alias Jagdish – the Divisional Committee Member (DCM) of the 8th company of the KKBN division.

It is worth mentioning here that Samaya Madkam alias Naresh, a DCM of the KKBN Division surrendered in Odisha on Tuesday. Samaya was the Commander of the 1st platoon in the 8th Company of the division.  As many as 17 cases are registered against Samaya in Odisha’s Kandhamal, Boudh, and Nuapada districts.

All these Maoists laid down their arms in the wake of intensified anti-Maoist operations by Odisha Police.
