Bhubaneswar: The body of a prisoner, who managed to flee from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment on Monday, was found hanging in Giringamali forest under Kaliapani police limits in Jajpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sukra Munda. He was undergoing life imprisonment at Athagarh Radharamanpur Model Jail after being convicted in a murder case. He was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after he fell sick.
Sukra managed to escape from the hospital while undergoing treatment on Monday. Frantic search by police to arrest Sukra went in vain.
Upon being informed, police rushed to Giringamali forest in Jajpur district and found him hanging from a tree. His body was sent for post-mortem to ascertain whether it was a murder or suicide.
