Malkangiri: The Malkangiri Additional District Collector has clarified through a letter that incessant rains in Malkangiri resulted in dislodging of “loose lumps of earth” that came down on the work side of the road, which is under construction from Bayada to Oringi in the district on July 20.
“The loose earth got massed on the road and was cleared in a few hours by the district administration on the same day,” he added.
The official also refuted reports that there was a landslide blocking the road from Byapada of Korkunda block to Oringi of Khairput block. “As this was not a landslide in the real sense, no villages were cut off from other regions.
The matter was investigated through the Tahsildar, Kudumulgumma, on the same day and found that no village was cut off due to the incident of such small scale,” the Additional Collector said in a letter.
He further added that there is an alternative road from Bayapada of Nakamamudi Gram Panchayat to Oringi of Rasabeda under Khairput.
