Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths apprehended the Accountant-cum-Data Entry Operator (ADEO) of Badaput Gram Panchayat under Boipariguda Block in Koraput district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Amarbar Mallick, was caught red-handed by a Vigilance team while taking the bribe from a contractor for processing a work order under the MGNREG scheme.
The contractor had approached the Vigilance authorities after Mallick delayed the work order despite approval from the competent authority, insisting on the bribe payment. The Vigilance team recovered the entire bribe amount from Mallick’s possession and seized it. Searches are underway at two locations linked to Mallick to detect disproportionate assets.
A case (Koraput Vigilance PS Case No 38/2025) has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and investigation is underway.
