Bargarh: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Bargarh district administration raided an illegal factory in Barpali that was manufacturing various adulterated food items and supplying them to the local market.
As per reports, the unit was illegally producing adulterated chocolates, biscuits, soft drinks, edible oil, and flattened rice (chuda) using substandard and harmful materials. The factory was operating from a large building near the Barapali weekly market area.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team conducted a surprise raid on Wednesday and seized a huge quantity of ready-to-sell adulterated food products, along with manufacturing machinery, utensils, and raw materials. Shockingly, it was found that flattened rice (chuda) was being made using waste paper, while edible oil was prepared by mixing used engine oil and other cheap substances. The owner of the factory refused to open the house door, leading police to surround the residence.
Meanwhile, the authorities have sealed the factory in the presence of Barapali Tehsildar, Police Inspector, Bargarh Town Police Station Inspector and Bargarh Food Inspector among others.
Further investigation is underway.
