Bhubaneswar: Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling on Friday launched an AI and ML-based digital health platform, “Masika Care,” aimed at providing menstrual health tracking, personalised insights, and awareness support for women.

The platform, developed as a joint initiative by students of BPUT and VIMSAR in collaboration with medical experts, was launched at Nagaon (B) in Balangir district along with a menstrual awareness campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the initiative is expected to help address health challenges faced by adolescent girls and women by breaking social stigma, superstition, and silence around menstruation. He added that the use of data-driven and modern technology would strengthen women’s healthcare delivery and awareness.

Taking to the social media platform X, Dr. Mahaling said the project aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Viksit Odisha 2036 under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

According to the developers, Masika Care uses a proprietary machine learning model that analyses biological patterns to assess menstrual health status in real time. The system provides personalised insights, tracking tools, and predictive health modelling aimed at supporting both menstrual and maternal healthcare needs.

The platform also includes modules focused on maternal health and infant safety, designed to assist expectant mothers with continuous monitoring and guidance.

The application has been designed to be accessible in multiple languages, including rural dialects, to ensure wider reach and better understanding among users, particularly in rural and underserved regions.
