Ailing Woman Dies After Ambulance Hits Truck In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: An elderly ailing woman died after an Ambulance in which she was being taken to hospital hit a truck from behind at Tangi in Cuttack district on Saturday night.

Phula Soren of Mahulabarei village in Mayurbhanj was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack by her son and daughter. The ambulance collided with a speeding truck in the night on its way to Cuttack.

Phula Soren died on the spot in the accident while her son and daughter and ambulance driver sustained critical injuries.

Chaitanya Soren, son of the deceased woman, said that the accident took place near Tangi at around 10.15 PM on Saturday.

He said that they were shifting his mother to Cuttack from Baripada hospital.

Chaitanya suffered injuries in his waist and while sister has head and leg injuries. They were undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The driver of the ambulance is also being treated in a critical condition.
