Bhubaneswar: The rapid rise in the number of dengue patients across Odisha has raised an alarm. As of Thursday, the total number of dengue cases in the state has reached 3,293.
As per data from the state Health department, 77,267 samples were tested and 3,293 people were found to be affected by dengue. On Wednesday, 186 people tested positive for dengue.
While 990 cases have been detected in Sundargarh district, 778 dengue patients have been detected in Khurda. The mosquito-borne disease has also been detected in Cuttack (19 patients), Balasore (159), Mayurbhanj (127), Bolangir (110), and Bhadrak (114).
A team from the Health department is in Rourkela and is speeding up the treatment of patient as well as endeavouring to prevent the spread of the disease. In Rourkela, most of the dengue patients have been detected in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) area. Three Teams from the Health department have already visited the affected areas in Rourkela.
Director of Public Health Nilakantha Mishra informed that efforts are underway to curb the spread of the disease and central control room is working round-the-clock.
