Bhubaneswar: In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district, the Ganjam district administration has ordered closure of all higher educational institutions on Wednesday.
As per an order issued by the Ganjam Collector & District Magistrate, all Degree Colleges, Technical Institutions and Departments of Universities functioning within Ganjam district will remain closed on 23.09.2026.
The order has been issued under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, read with guidelines of the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions, waterlogging, possible disruption of transportation and the safety and security of students and staff.
The Collector has directed heads of all concerned institutions to ensure strict compliance with the order and take all necessary precautionary measures for the safety and well-being of students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The order comes into force with immediate effect.
