Brahmapur: Allegations of a question paper leak during postgraduate (PG) examinations at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur have prompted a formal inquiry by the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), with authorities investigating claims that examination papers were circulated through WhatsApp groups before the test.

The controversy relates to the PG examination conducted on July 27 across more than 20 subjects. According to sources, photographs of the question paper were allegedly shared among medical students shortly before the examination began. The papers were reportedly circulated through multiple WhatsApp groups, where answers were also said to have been exchanged, raising concerns over possible unfair advantage to some candidates.

Sources further alleged that a medical student and a senior staff member of the institution are under suspicion for their alleged involvement in the leak. It has also been claimed that copies of the question paper were sold for substantial amounts and circulated beyond the institution, including to a private medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Following complaints regarding the alleged irregularities, the matter was reported to OUHS, which subsequently deputed a team to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for a preliminary investigation. The inquiry team is examining the sequence of events surrounding the alleged leak and is attempting to identify those responsible.

The medical college has also launched an internal investigation into how the question paper was photographed and disseminated through WhatsApp. Dean Dr. Harekrushna Dalai confirmed that an inquiry is underway and said appropriate action would be taken against anyone found involved in the alleged malpractice.

Officials said two PG examinations are still pending, and additional monitoring measures are being put in place to strengthen examination security and prevent any further irregularities.

The allegations have triggered concern among students and members of the academic community, with many demanding a transparent investigation and strict action if the claims are substantiated.
