Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Nyaya Sanhita Exhibition at the Exhibition Ground, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar on Friday (March 6). The event aims to raise awareness about the historic amendments in India’s criminal justice system, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also attending.

The exhibition, open to the public from March 7 to March 10, will showcase the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which replaced colonial-era laws on July 1, 2024. Director General of Police YB Khurania highlighted the focus on timely justice, victim rights, and technology-driven investigations.

The DGP informed that the entire justice system “from the crime scene to the High Court” will be displayed in an integrated and educational format in the exhibition. The DGP expressed hope that the general public would be informed about crime scenes, 112 emergency assistance, police station functioning, hospital coordination, forensic laboratories, public prosecution, district courts, prisons and the working of the High Court at the 10 stalls approved by the Home Ministry.

The new law has given importance to technology and scientific investigation. Accordingly, emphasis has been given to forensic investigation in serious crimes, recognition of digital evidence and investigation process within time limits.

Along with this, special plans for implementation of the new law, police modernization and empowerment, prevention of crimes against women, role of Special Operations Group (SOG) in Maoist suppression and contribution of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) during natural disasters, etc. will also be displayed.

“The Code of Justice exhibition is a reflection of the commitment of Odisha Police to create awareness among the common people about the historic transformation of India’s criminal justice system. The DGP informed the media that Odisha Police is committed to ensuring justice to the aggrieved in a timely manner through scientific investigation, modern technology and citizen participation.

DGP (Crime) Binaytosh Mishra, Additional Director General of Police (Railways and Coastal Security)  Arun Bothra were prominently present at today’s press conference.
