Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) will be roping in Mission Shakti members, ASHAs, Red Cross and NGO volunteers for the distribution of pamphlets to spread awareness on cyber crimes from October 9 during the State Level Cyber Safety Campaign from 30th September to 15th October 2023 covering all districts of the state.
During the course of the campaign, a Road Run will be organized on October 8 and a padayatra involving senior citizens, women and children will be organised on October 14 evening for spreading awareness about cyber safety.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will flag off Cyber Safety Raths from Kalinga Stadium here at 5:00 PM on September 30.
These Cyber Safety Raths would then fan out across the state and touch all Block Headquarters and Police Stations in the next two weeks. These Raths would be disseminating cyber safety awareness messages through audio, visual and print mode in the local language/dialect.
Workshop/Quiz Competition on Cyber Security will be held in two educational institutions every day from 3 October.
During this time, online campaign would be going on continuously with the spreading of cyber safety messages through various social media platforms, radio, visual and print media.
The Cyber Safety Rath would be accompanied by Professionals who can converse about Cyber Safety in local language.
Also, a couple of online competitions on cyber safety would be held at the District as well as State level involving all age groups and sections of society.
A social media handle @cybercopodisha has been created in ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for the latest updates on Cyber Safety.
Cyber Crime cases are increasing everywhere in the country, including in the state of Odisha as well. Though there are legal actions against cyber fraudsters, cybercrime in most cases is preventable which could be done through cyber literacy and awareness on cyber crime.
The campaign is being organised by Odisha Police in association with other departments of the State government, 15 Banks and other partners. The main objective of this mass social campaign is to spread awareness about Cyber Crimes in society, among all sections, and age groups and to educate them about cyber safety.
Apart from the Banking industry, IT Industry, many academic institutions are also actively participating in the campaign.
The campaign aims to reach the maximum possible population.
