Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions across Odisha, district administrations in Angul, Kendrapara, Koraput and Sambalpur have announced the temporary closure of schools as a precautionary measure to protect students from extreme heat exposure.
The District Education Offices (DEOs) of Kendrapara and Koraput have issued orders directing all schools in the respective districts to remain closed from April 23 to April 25.
In Sambalpur district, the administration has ordered closure of schools from April 23 to April 27, extending the shutdown period in view of the intensifying heatwave situation.
Similarly, the Angul district administration has also directed all schools to remain closed from April 23 to April 25.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, at least 18 places across Odisha recorded temperatures of 40°C or above on Tuesday. Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 43.6°C.
