Cuttack: The High School Certificate Examination (HSC) being conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has begun today, with 5,61,979 students appearing for the exam across 3,082 centers in the state.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the exam halls for invigilators and staff. All exam centers are under CCTV surveillance, and invigilators have been asked to be vigilant as live streaming of the exam is being done. Additionally, a command control room has been set up at the Board to monitor the exams.

This year, 3,999 differently-abled students are appearing for the Class X board exam. Arrangements have been made for them to take the exam on the ground floor.

Differently-abled students will get an extra 50 minutes for each exam, and 55 minutes extra for the mathematics exam. Student helpers with education up to class IX will assist those needing writing help.

To prevent cheating, 37 special squads have been formed by the Board, and 72 squads have been set up at the district level under DEOs.

The exam is being held simultaneously with the State Open School (SOS) and Sanskrit Madhyama examinations. Additionally, 12,414 students will appear for the State Open School Certificate (SOS) exam, and 2,748 students will appear for the Madhyama exam.
