Bhubaneswar: In a bid to curb the rising incidents of theft, robbery, and burglary in apartments, the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar has formed a special team, known as the anti-burglary squad.
The team, comprising 150 selected police officers, including some gun-wielding personnel, will check and block suspicious activities at various places, especially at night.
According to Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra, the team has been formed to challenge apartment looters across the Commissionerate Police jurisdiction in Bhubaneswar. A WhatsApp group has also been created, with the DCP as the admin, to facilitate communication between police officers, apartment residents, and other stakeholders.
The special team has already started yielding results, with some suspects arrested and information received about individuals involved in loot during the night. The police have also identified inter-state looters operating in some areas.
