Bhubaneswar: Abiding by the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s emphasis on maintaining high morals and integrity in public life and his insistence on a zero-tolerance approach against inefficient and corrupt officials, the state government has taken stern actions against nine more officials from different sectors. So far, 197 state government officers have been dismissed from their jobs or forced to retire or their pensions have been stopped for inefficiency or corrupt practices.
Of the nine officers punished recently, Shivaram Vishal, the former Executive Officer of Cuttack District RWSS Division-II, has been arrested in a corruption case. His pension has been permanently stopped.
Similarly, the pension and gratuity of Gandaram Khamari, former BID (Retired OA Officer) of Kalahandi block in Kalahandi district, has been permanently suspended after he was convicted in a corruption case.
Gokul Chandra Naik, the former Assistant Agriculture Officer of Umerkot of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, has been charged in a corruption case and, hence, has been fired from his job due to corruption and inefficiency.
Krishnachandra Goud, former Assistant Agriculture Officer of Udayagiri, has been found guilty of corruption and his pension and gratuity have been permanently suspended.
The pension and gratuity of former Soil Conservation Officer of Malkangiri district Dasharathi Tripathi has been permanently suspended after being found guilty in a corruption case.
Despite being a government official, Upendrabhanj Naik, a former junior engineer of Sohela RWSS in Bargarh district, also failed to maintain honesty and integrity in his work. He also lacked manners. Hence, action has been taken against him and he was fired from his job.
Similarly, Sushil Kumar Meher, the former auditor of Sundargarh District Local Fund Audit Department, has been found guilty in a corruption case and has been fired from his job on charges of corruption and inefficiency.
The pension and gratuity of the former Social Education Officer of Mayurbhanj Udala, Anand Chandra Naik, has been permanently suspended due to his conviction in a corruption case.
Former DMSN Superintendent of Chandpur in Nayagarh district Dr Surendra Nathpati has been charged in a corruption case and his pension has also been permanently stopped.
