Anu Garg Becomes Odisha’s First Woman Chief Secretary

Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Anu Garg has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha, succeeding Manoj Ahuja, who retires on December 31, 2025.

Garg, a 1991 batch IAS officer, is currently serving as Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Convergence Department and Water Resources Department. She will be the first woman to hold this top bureaucratic position in the state.

Garg’s appointment has been notified by the General Administration and Public Grievance department. With her vast experience in state and central administration, she is expected to bring significant expertise to the role.

Her previous positions include Principal Secretary of Water Resources, Women and Child Development, and Labour and ESI, among others.
