Bhubaneswar: Arabinda Mohapatra, son of former minister and senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra, joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas on Thursday.
Arabinda has been active in the Patkura Assembly constituency in Kendrapara district during the last two years.
His father, Bijoy Mohapatra was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Patkura constituency four times (1980, 1985, 1990, and 1995). Bijoy, who was a powerful minister in the Biju Patnaik government in the early 1990s, is a founding member of the BJD.
