Bhubaneswar: Three armed robbers threatened a shopkeeper and looted more than one lakh rupees at gunpoint from the Gandhi Variety Store in Pandarsil village under Raruan police station in Mayurbhanj district on Friday night.
The shop owner, identified as Mayadhar Sahoo, was closing his store around 9:20 pm when the robbers struck.
According to Sahoo, one assailant brandished a firearm while another wielded a dagger, intimidating Sahoo and his shop assistant.
“One person initially came to the shop asking for biscuits, but I refused as I was closing. As I was lowering the shutter, two more men appeared. One threatened me with a gun, and another showed a knife to my assistant. They snatched my bag containing the store’s records and around Rs 70,000 in cash. Additionally, they took Rs 40,000 from my pocket,” Sahoo narrated.
Following the incident, Sahoo immediately lodged a complaint with the Raruan police. The police arrived promptly and have launched an investigation to apprehend the culprits.
