Malkangiri: Around 600 Maoist supporters surrendered before the police near the Ghanabeda BSF camp in the Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district today.
“Today around 600 people from Andrapalli in Swabhiman Anchal which was once the hub of Maoist ideology came forward to join hands with the State government in the development process,” informed Nitesh Wadhwani speaking to reporters.
This shows that there is no space for Maoist ideology, especially in Swabhiman Anchal of Odisha, Wadhwani added.
The SP through the media appealed to the Maoists to shun arms and be a part of Odisha’s growth story.
He further informed that people from four villages of Andhra came here today and apprised about the issues they had when this area was a hotbed of Maoist activity.
They also apprised about the improvements that have happened and what help they needed both from Odisha and Andhra, he added.
“I am assuring them from the Odisha side that work will be up to date and on time,” the SP said.
