Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday unearthed massive assets linked to Siba Mallick, the Tahsildar of Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district, who was arrested on Tuesday on bribery charges.
According to an official press release, a case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 29, dated 23.09.2025) was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Mallick for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The bribe was reportedly sought in exchange for facilitating the eviction of an illegal structure obstructing access to a complainant’s house.
Mallick was arrested on September 23 and is being produced before the court today.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at multiple locations associated with Mallick. Vigilance officials uncovered a range of high-value assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Assets Recovered Include:
- Three multi-storeyed buildings:
- A three-storeyed market complex (2024) with three halls and three shops at Bhagabatpur, Kendrapara.
- A double-storeyed building (2024–25) measuring 2,700 sq. ft. at Ganeshpur, Kendrapara.
- Another double-storeyed building (2018–19) of 4,600 sq. ft. at Baghilobabanpur, Derabis, Kendrapara.
- Seven valuable plots on the outskirts of Kendrapara town:
- Plots located in Ganeshpur, Gulasingh, Bhagabatpur, and Baghilobabanpur, measuring between 0.0078 and 0.840 acres.
- Cash amounting to Rs 1.54 lakhs.
- Four two-wheelers.
- Household articles worth approximately Rs 7 lakhs.
Vigilance officials confirmed that the assets are registered in the names of Mallick and his family members.
A detailed investigation is underway to assess the assets under the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
