Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Hrushikesh Biswal, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Anantapur Out Post under Soro Police Station in Balasore district.
Biswal was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant to release his motorcycle, which had been detained in connection with a road accident.
According to an official press release, the complainant’s motorcycle was seized by ASI Biswal on September 7, 2025, following an accident. Despite repeated requests to release the vehicle, Biswal demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000. Upon the complainant’s inability to pay this amount, the accused reduced the bribe demand to Rs 8,000.
With no other recourse, the complainant reported the matter to Odisha Vigilance. Acting on this information, the vigilance team laid a trap and arrested Biswal while he was accepting the bribe. The entire bribe amount was recovered from Biswal’s possession.
Further, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Biswal in connection with disproportionate assets.
A case (Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 11/2025) has been registered under Section 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and investigations are ongoing.
A detailed report will follow as the investigation progresses.
