Bhubaneswar: The Assam Police, with the support of Commissionerate Police, conducted a raid in the Infocity area of Bhubaneswar on Thursday, searching for a high-profile fugitive named Sameer Patnaik.
Patnaik is accused of orchestrating scams and fraud schemes worth crores of rupees in Assam, evading authorities for weeks before being tracked to Bhubaneswar.
Upon reaching the suspected flat, officers encountered a locked door with no response to their knocks, leaving uncertainty about the occupant’s identity. Interestingly, Patnaik had a prior run-in with the law, having been arrested by the Commissionerate Police and released on bail just days ago.
The investigation is currently underway, with authorities working to apprehend Patnaik and unravel the complexities of the alleged scams.
The development comes as part of the Assam Police’s efforts to crack down on financial crimes.
