Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended the Assistant Agriculture Officer-cum-Fertilizer Inspector of Paikmal in Bargarh district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a fertilizer dealer.
As per a complaint lodged with the Vigilance, Assistant Agriculture Officer-cum-Fertilizer Inspector Pranaya Kumar Mantry had demanded the said amout from the dealer while threatening to cancel his fertilizer license.
Based on the complaint, vigilance sleuths had laid a trap and caught him red-handed. Following it, simultaneous searches were launched at his residence at Shailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, parental house at Tigiria in Cuttack, and office and quarter at Paikmal in Bargarh.
