Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar have arrested a teacher of an upper primary school in Jajpur district for allegedly leaking question papers of Summative Assessment II of Class 1 to 8 supplied by Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) and uploading those on YouTube.
The accused has been identified as Jagannath Kar (29) of Jhadanga village under Jajpur Town police station in Jajpur district.
According to the police accused Jagannath, who works as an assistant teacher at Gopinath Jew Nodal Upper Primary School in Sridharpur under Town Town police station limits and his wife Rutuparna Pati (27) has a YouTube channel–ProAnswer having 25,900 subscribers with 103 videos uploaded.
To gain YouTube subscriber, likes, shares, popularity and to earn a huge sum of money in a short time, in furtherance of their common intention the couple planned to upload the question and answer of the Summative Assessment Test of Class 1-8 question paper on their YouTube channel before the scheduled date of the examinations which was supposed to be in confidential and in safe custody as it is valuable security of the State. On March 9, as per their plan, Jagannath Kar took the question paper on behalf of the Head Mistress of Itara Primary School from the Cluster Research Centre Coordinator Gopinath Jew Nodal Upper Primary School to his home and then he and his wife Rutupurna Pati scanned the question through their mobile and on the same day and uploaded the same on their YouTube channel i.e. ProAnswer before examination ie.15th March 2024.
Earlier, during the investigation, police had arrested one accused Samir Sahu (21) of Khandadeuli under Rambha police limits of Ganjam district who had a YouTube channel “Samir Educational” and forwarded him to court on March 30 as per FIR and all digital evidence.
On further investigation it was ascertained that the question and answer paper was leaked first by the following accused persons hence they have been apprehended, and further follow-up action will be taken as per law. Accused Jagannath Kar working as an Assistant Teacher of Gopinath Jew Nodal Upper Primary School, Sridharpur and a public servant along with his wife Rutupurna Pati have jointly committed the crime.
Police have seized 02 Mobile handsets of the accused (one of the husband and another of the wife used for making videos on YouTube, 01 Laptop of the accused, 09 Nos of Answer Paper of Summative Assessment-II of class-1 to 8 and 02 Nos. Bank Passbook.
