Jajpur: In a brazen robbery, miscreants made off with the ATM and a parked mini truck from the HDFC Bank ATM outlet at Mainda Bazaar under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district.
According to reports, the incident occurred late last night, with the miscreants targeting the ATM kiosk and decamping with cash and the machine. The truck, found abandoned near the scene, is believed to have been used in the heist.
Locals noticed the vandalised ATM structure this morning and promptly alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers found the ATM smashed, with clear signs of forced entry, and the machine ripped apart.
Police suspect the vehicle was used to haul away the ATM machine and cash. Police are meanwhile scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and traffic points to track the suspects and the vehicle. Forensic teams are also collecting evidence from the scene.
Meanwhile, locals attributed the lack of effective patrolling in the area to rising incidents of robbery.
