Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over poachers’ attack on forest department officials late last night at Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, the department has decided to intensify combing operations in the sanctuary to contain poaching activities.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Susanta Nanda informed that a joint team comprising Special Tiger Protection Force and Ex-Army personnel will intensify combing operation in Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary.
Also, Nanda has asked poachers to surrender arms.
It may be mentioned that two forest officials sustained severe injuries after being fired by poachers while patrolling in Kuladiha Sanctuary in Balasore district late Monday night.
However, another forest official received minor injuries.
The injured identified as Khitish Parida and Biranchi Jena of the anti-poaching squad were initially admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Two poachers have been arrested in this connection so far.
