Balasore: In a decisive action against illegal mining, the Balasore district administration on Tuesday conducted a sudden raid on an unauthorized stone quarry operating at Khajamahal under Soro Bagudi. Acting on strict directives from the state government to curb illegal sand and stone extraction, officials swiftly intervened and imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) at the site.

The raid was carried out under the leadership of the Balasore District Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas, accompanied by the Sub-Collector, officials from the Mining Department, Additional SP, Tehsildar, and the Forest Department. Authorities inspected the area and reviewed operational activities believed to be linked to mining-related violations.

Speaking after the crackdown, the District Collector said that the administration is committed to dismantling illegal mining networks in the region. “We have taken stringent action and decided to install CCTV cameras at vulnerable points to prevent mafia activities and ensure continuous monitoring,” the Collector stated.

The district administration has intensified surveillance and pledged sustained enforcement to curb illegal extraction practices across Balasore.
