Balasore: The Balasore Police on Wednesday issued a public advisory urging citizens to act responsibly on social media platforms and refrain from posting or promoting content that spreads hatred or harm against individuals or groups based on their community.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the district police warned that circulating hateful or harmful messages online could lead to serious legal consequences. The advisory emphasized that social media users must avoid encouraging divisive narratives and instead promote respectful dialogue and the sharing of factual information.
The police further appealed to the public to report any harmful or hate-filled posts to the respective social media platforms or concerned authorities. Users were also advised to preserve screenshots or web links of such content as evidence to aid possible investigations.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining peace and harmony, the Balasore Police stressed the importance of responsible digital behavior and collective vigilance to prevent the misuse of social media.
The advisory comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of online platforms to spread misinformation and communal discord.
