Balasore: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Balasore police on Friday seized 260 grams of brown sugar worth ₹26 lakh and arrested one person in connection with the case.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted the accused near the West Bengal-Odisha border and recovered the contraband from his possession. The arrested individual, who has two prior cases against him, is reportedly part of a family with a history of involvement in illegal activities, as his father has four similar cases registered against him.
The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of the Balasore police to curb drug smuggling in the region. Further investigation is underway to uncover the network behind the illegal trade.
