Cuttack: The world-famous Bali Yatra, a grand annual fair that commemorates Odisha’s ancient maritime glory, will be held in Cuttack from November 5 to November 12 this year.
Unlike previous years, the fair will be organized only at the Lower Bali Yatra ground, covering nearly 60 acres of land. The Upper ground has been earmarked exclusively for parking arrangements to ensure smooth traffic management during the week-long affair.
Officials informed that allotment of plots to traders and exhibitors will be carried out through an online process, bringing in greater transparency and convenience.
Bali Yatra, which attracts lakhs of visitors every year, marks the day when ancient Odia sailors, known as Sadhabas, set sail for distant lands like Bali, Java, and Sumatra for trade and cultural exchange. The event has now evolved into one of the largest open-air trade and cultural fairs in Asia.
